Exploring Writing Test Anxiety Among EFL University Students in the Saudi Context

The purpose of this research study was threefold: (1) to investigate the levels EFL writing anxiety, (2) identify types and (3) find out main causes anxiety. Quantitative qualitative methods were employed. participants consisted 200 students enrolled in different disciplines at King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Both Second Language Writing Anxiety Inventory (SLWAI) Causes (CWAI) used collect data. findings revealed that majority (60%) experienced a high level whereas 8% exhibited low it. In addition, cognitive anxiety found be most dominant type while avoidance behavior other end bar. Furthermore, among university following order: linguistic difficulties, time pressure, insufficient technique, practice, fear teacher’s negative comments, tests, self-confidence writing.
